What's it all about?
The Lancefield & District Farmers' Market was established in March 2003 by the Lancefield Neighbourhood House as a way of connecting farmers' & food producers with the local community. The market has up 40-50 stalls depending on season and prides itself on a great selection of fresh produce, mostly organically produced alongside regional wines, honey, eggs, bread, pastries, fruit trees, herbs, live poultry, stockfeed, preserves, fresh pasta, olive oil & emu oil products, cheeses, meat, puddings and more. The Lancefield centre plantation is a beautiful place to spend one's morning, shopping for provisions underneath the canopy of heritage listed trees & the attractive streetscape.
A community BBQ has local meats cooking, vegetarian foods available from Organic Sunrise, Asian flavours from Taste of the Orient & fresh baked burek from Illynka's Kitchen. Grab a hot Lotus Chai & relax under the trees.
Look out for our new speakers area featuring presentations from producers & local identities each month.
The market also has free facepainting & buskers to entertain. The town of Lancefield is home to cafes, art galleries, a bakery, butcher, great bookshop, antiques & the best vanilla slices are available from the milkbar.
